Hey there! How is everyone doing? I hope that everything is going well back home in Utah. Snow sounds crazy! Today is the first cold day that we've had. Its the upper 50s right now. I was so excited this morning to finally be able to wear a jacket! I haven't worn any since the MTC and I can tell that I've gained weight. Oh well. It's probably good for me.
This week was awesome! Dede got baptized!
It is so amazing to see the light of Christ really come into people's lives. The change that I've seen in Dede has been amazing. Just last year she was in rehab and now she is so so strong in the Gospel. She knows that it is true and wont ever deny it. And I'll tell you what, baptism changes the way people look. Forget about those extreme makeover shows. Baptism and Christ do way better work than any dr or fancy technology. I'm serious. It's amazing!
It was awesome because her parents and son came and could really feel the Spirit. Afterwords her mom just thanked me for helping her daughter. I just kept thinking "well you're next!" Her main issue is that she isn't willing to give up smoking. Hopefully we can change that soon.
We have another baptism scheduled for Friday! This ladies name is Mary. She is in her mid 40s and is blind. Even though she is completely blind she can still read. It's really quite amazing. We'll give her a pamphlet and she'll rub her fingers on it and can tell you exactly what it says and what the picture is of. I really don't understand it. Sometimes I close my eyes and try to do it but it definitely doesn't work. She also works as a seamstress.
Amazing huh! I don't know if any of you remember how wonderful my sewing skills were in high school (Christina and Ash). It's amazing to me that this blind woman sews as a profession and I can't even sew in a strait line. She really is super talented. Mary also has more faith than almost anyone I know. She has taken her weaknesses and made them into strengths with the help of the Lord.
So this week is transfers. We find out tonight what's going to happen. Something for sure is going to happen to my companionship because we are the only threesome and we're getting one new hermana in the mission. I'm 95% sure that I'll stay. I'll write you a letter if I do get transferred.
Well, I love you all so so much! I'm so lucky to have the most amazing friends and family in the world! Have a great week and always trust in the Lord. This is the only safe way to life.
Also, always remember to look to the good side of things - it makes all of the difference.
Love,
Hermana Anderson
ps Aunt Marsha, you are the BEST!
