This Week Has Been A Good One!

Well this week has been a good one! We have taught lots of people. Right now I think we are teaching like 13 people. All of which are on date for baptism. We had two baptisms this week. One on Saturday and one on Sunday. We had Curtis on Sunday. And Isaac Haws the 14 year old kid that called us saying he wanted to be baptized on Saturday. They were both great baptisms. Isaac asked me to speak on the Holy Ghost at his baptism so that was a great opportunity. It is definitely different serving my mission here in the Salt Lake valley. Especially with having my home in the mission. But that is okay. I am still serving the lord and loving every minute of it. Whenever people ask us where we are from. I usually say Rochester, New York. That way I do not have to explain every five minutes why I was called to this mission. But the people that I will have a lot of interaction with I always tell them why I am from Bluffdale.
Well I hope you all have a great week. I love you all and keep writing me! I love it when I get mail.
Have a great week!
Love,
Elder Anderson

Onward Christian Soldiers

This morning Elder Reed Anderson was set apart by President Rane as a missionary in the Utah Salt Lake City South Mission. Love filled the room during this special blessing. We are so grateful and thrilled that Reed's health has improved and he is able to serve once again.

We are so grateful for your prayers in Reed's behalf. We ask that you continue exercising your faith and prayers that Reed's body will be able to sustain him as he is about our Father's work.

Instead of driving to the MTC or to the Airport to send off our missionary son, we loaded up the car and Mark drove Elder Anderson to his assigned area of labor (West Jordan , Copperton) where he met his companions and other missionaries at the location of their zone conference. Reed's luggage was transfered from our vehicle to theirs and off to work he went.

Reed has loved the time that he has spent serving since he has been home, but it was difficult and strange to serve during the day and then come home at night. We are thrilled that Reed was able to move to serving both day and night and are hopeful that his body will be able to sustain him.

Where oh where, will our little girl go?

As many of you know Melissa is anxiously awaiting her mission call. The Bishop checked the status of her call and it was issued last week and in the mail system on Friday, so if there were no chinks in the system her call should arrive in the mail tomorrow.

I must admit that I am quite nervous about where Melissa will be serving, but know that she has been called to serve where the Lord has need of her and she will be blessed as she serves as an instrument in the Lord's hands.

If that magical letter arrives on Wednesday Melissa will be having opening her call at our home at 7:30 pm. You are each welcome to join our family as Melissa opens her mission call.

Melissa's favorite dessert will be served!

Wow, what a week is has been!

Wow, what a week it has been! I started my mission on Wednesday morning. I am now serving in the Utah Salt Lake City South mission. So yes where I am from. That is okay I love it so much here! I am serving in the Sunset Ridge West Jordan area. We cover two different stakes. We are teaching lots and lots of people right now! I had my first baptism on Saturday. A little 10 year old girl named Hannah Olsen. She is awesome. It was good to see my work already paying off. We have 8 other investigators on date for baptism right now. So in other words we already have the day and time of their baptism set up, They just have to receive the rest of the lessons and keep up on their end. (Go to church, Pray, and Read) I am still living at home right now as many of you know. I start my day out at about 7am and drive out to West Jordan and meet my companions at around 8am. I stay with them all day untelle 9pm then I drive home. It is really weird going home at night. The first night my companions and I were like, "Well I guess this is where we say bye?" It is cool though. I am glad that I am having the opportunity to serve still! I will hopefully be moving in with the missionaries within the next couple of weeks. We are just making sure that my health is fine and that my body can really handle the full time missionary service again.
I love you all!

Prom

Can you believe it, Tommy boy is growing up!

Tommy went to Prom this past Saturday night. Doesn't he look great! I guess Mark and I really are becoming "old folks", well maybe Mark.... I'm still a youngster.

As you know prom is an "event" and has multiple phases, the asking, the answering, the picking out the tux, the planning, the day activity, the getting ready, the pictures, picking your date up twice in the same day, the dinner, more pictures, the dance, the after dance activity.

9 couples in all had a great time! The amazing race took them around to different locations finding clues and having to accomplish challenges, a nice steak dinner at Ruby Tuesday a fun time at the state capital for the dance and then to a friends house for hot fudge sundaes and a movie.

Missionary Service Continues

Thank you for your prayers in Reed's behalf.

We are hopeful that the doctors have begun to figure out some of the mysteries of Reed's body. Medical tests continue, but Reed is responding to the medication that the doctors have provided. His blood pressure has stabilized, his pneumonia is gone, the sinus infection has cleared up and his strength is increasing.

Tomorrow Elder Anderson will continue his missionary service in the Utah Salt Lake South Mission. We are grateful for President Laney and for his willingness to work with Reed. Reed had a great interview with the Mission President today and has been assigned to a companionship and will work as much of the day as his body will allow. Our hope is that Reed will quickly regain his strength and be able to be called to full time missionary service in the Salt Lake South Mission. We trust that the Lord will continue to bless Reed and that his body will sustain him to fulfill the work that the Lord has need of him to do.

Because many of us live in the Utah Salt Lake South mission we are bound to run into Elder Anderson while he is serving as a missionary and have been asked that we greet him with a quick hello and let him get back to work.

Reed is excited about the work!

I love this photo of Elder Anderson with his cousin Elder Cowley outside the Provo Temple.
